📌Plot Synopsis
Bob Hope plays Michael Valentine, a radio personality from New York. As he is about to get engaged to his girlfriend Hazel (played by Vera Marshe), he discovers that he is the last living heir to the throne of the fictional European country of Barovia.
But being an heir isn’t all fun and games. The former king of Barovia had been assassinated, and now there are sinister forces out to ensure that Michael Valentine never claims the throne. He becomes the target of numerous assassination attempts, bringing slapstick humor and comedic chase sequences into play.
The real intrigue begins when Valentine learns about a plot that if he doesn’t claim his throne by a certain date, Barovia will fall under the control of its neighboring country, which is depicted as a totalitarian regime. With the clock ticking, Valentine, along with his girlfriend and a Barovian agent named General Grimovitch (played by William Bendix), must navigate a series of comedic misadventures to ensure he claims the throne in time and saves Barovia from a grim fate.
Valentine’s journey is filled with mistaken identities, witty one-liners, and narrow escapes from the clutches of his pursuers. Along the way, he also gets entangled with a mysterious woman, Katrina Grimovitch (played by Signe Hasso), further complicating his quest.
In the end, after a series of comedic twists and turns, Valentine manages to claim the throne, save Barovia, and return to his life in New York, leaving the audience in splits with his antics.
